La Grande Halle de La Villette

1985 was the year of renewal! The inauguration of the Grande Halle marked the start of intense cultural and economic activity. Restaurants, shops, and hotels began to spring up nearby, towards Porte de Pantin and then as far as Porte de La Villette. Music, shows, and concerts were reserved for the Zenith, which had opened 1 year earlier, and the Cité de la Musique, which followed 10 years later, in 1995. Since its opening, the Grande Halle has never ceased to host large-scale events, symbols of the French cultural exception.

Just a few examples? Star Wars, Lego and Tim Burton have all taken up residence here at one time or another. The Grande Halle de La Villette was chosen to welcome the King of Kings, Pharaoh Ramses. Some events are just as enchanting for their excessiveness. In 2022, the “Time of the Dinosaurs” exhibition featured animated reconstructions of these prehistoric creatures.
