Walking around Paris: a family-friendly itinerary starting from the ReMIX Hotel

Tuesday, January 14, 2025

Would you like to walk around Paris in a unique way, in just two days, without rushing around all over the city? Let our family-friendly walking itinerary guide you, starting from the ReMIX Hotel. With cultural discoveries, green spaces and leisure activities, this itinerary covers all the capital’s must-see attractions as well as activities for the whole family to enjoy. Get ready for an unforgettable two days strolling along the Canal de l’Ourcq and exploring the heart of Paris!

Day 1: Explore the area of La Villette

Morning: The treasures of Parc de la Villette

The first stop on this exciting itinerary is Parc de la Villette. This 55-hectare green lung is home to a place that’s sure to delight the whole family: the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie. You’re bound to learn something new in this museum, no matter what your age! Here, learning is made fun with playful, interactive exhibitions and shows. For a truly magical experience, we recommend you book a slot at the Planetarium, where you’ll learn all about the constellations!

Lunch break: A picnic or a gourmet break

Feeling hungry? Why not stop for lunch on the banks of the Canal de l’Ourcq? This peaceful, modern area is a favourite spot for families and joggers alike, with walking and cycling paths along the canal’s banks. You can bring a picnic to enjoy by the water (a big hit with the kids) or find a nearby restaurant — there are plenty to choose from.

Afternoon: A walk along the Canal de l’Ourcq with play areas for the kids

Now that everyone’s bellies are full, it’s time to walk it off with a leisurely stroll along the canal. If your little ones still have energy, you’ll be pleased to find plenty of spaces designed with them in mind. Along the way, you’ll discover playgrounds and secure areas perfect for families. To name a few:

The Jardin des Vents et des Dunes: This secure garden is suitable for babies and toddlers (0-2 years old), as well as children up to 13 years old. Inspired by the Bretagne coastline, it features original play equipment such as pedal-powered windmills, movable sail walls and air cushion waves to encourage balance and motor skills.

The Jardin du Dragon: Open every day from 8am to 7pm, this play area is perfect for children aged 3-13. 8–14-year-olds can have fun on ‘The Iron Dragon’, an 11-metre-long tube slide. With ropes, rubber staircases and nets, this fun and original structure is a great way for the kids to let off some steam after a visit to the science museum.

Evening: A relaxing evening at the ReMIX Hotel

After an action-packed day, there’s nothing like a bit of peace and quiet. And that’s exactly what you’ll find at your ReMIX Hotel in Paris. You could choose to watch an animated film with your family or play a card or board game. Whether in the privacy of your room or comfortably settled at the hotel bar, the choice is yours!

Day 2: Discover the heart of Paris

Morning: Head for Montmartre on foot or by metro

Get ready for another exciting day of walking around Paris! This time, we’re heading to the heart of the capital, specifically the Montmartre district. We suggest taking the metro and then exploring the area on foot once you arrive. Here’s what to do when you get there:

Sacré-Cœur and Place du Tertre: stroll through the historic alleyways to these must-see sites and take some memorable photos.

Musée de Montmartre: A peaceful, educational art museum that’s suitable for younger visitors.

Lunch break: Savour a Parisian speciality

Montmartre is beautiful, but climbing up its steep hills definitely works up an appetite! Here, we highly recommend you try some Parisian specialities. Pop into a cosy bistro and treat yourself to a croque monsieur, onion soup, meat pie or a juicy steak. All restaurants offer a children’s menu.

Afternoon: Return to La Villette along the Grands Boulevards

For your journey back, why not bring along the pushchairs for a relaxing stroll down the Grands Boulevards? The animated window displays of the Galeries Lafayette are a real treat. At the end of the avenue, you’ll find the magnificent Opéra Garnier. From here, you can hop on Line 7 back to the hotel, or if you’d like to explore more, make your way to the Musée Grévin wax museum.

Evening: Enjoy the cultural scene at La Villette

After a good nap, it’s time to enjoy the capital’s nightlife. For a post-dinner walk near the ReMIX Hotel in the 19th arrondissement, take a stroll through Parc de la Villette and marvel at the Philharmonie illuminated at night.

If you’re in the mood for a more cultural activity, check out the programmes of the local venues: the Cabaret Sauvage, the Zénith, the Philharmonie and the Trabendo.
